A Better Way, Indeed

Yes, I am for the Fair Tax. Just imagine a future without income taxes, the IRS, etc. I don't see why people have a problem with it. The site answers most of the commonly asked questions, and has a good deal of the research behind the idea there as well. The site does a much better job of explaining it than I ever could.

So, check it out. Who knows? You may just learn a thing or two.

If you do some more research, specifically HR 25, the bill before congress right now (get the 2005 version) you'll find it's a huge screw job for people wanting to buy houses.

Also, their math doesn't work. For their numbers to work you'd have to keep your same net pay, even without taxes coming out, to reduce prices to the level they claim.

There is an archived post at my blog about the problems with their math.

If you are referring to getting rid of the "home mortgage interest deduction", you forget to mention that only about one-third of taxpaers itemize their returns. Furthermore, maybe you wouldn't need all those deductions if you actually got to keep all the money you earned.

As far as incorrect math, I can't seem to access your blog to read that post. I just continually ask myself why we value a "progressive" tax system so much. Because, taxing the very behavior that makes this economy grow (creation of jobs, wealth, etc.) really makes sense.
